Movie review: Kinsey Report

Despite Liam Neeson’s horrible fake american accent, I recommend it.  A look back at a different time in american society, only half a century ago, yet so very different (and in unpleasant ways, the same).

  1. The kinsey report (the movie) sucked. Yes, it was a look back at a different time in American society, but you can learn a lot more in a lot less time by just reading the wikipedia report on the subject and understanding that back then, people were (1) unfazed by virginity prior to marriage, (2) unphased by someone whose only sexual contact (auto-erotic stimulation included) consisted of engaging in only heterosexual contact in the missionary position, and (3) they felt obligated to show how scandalized they were whenever anyone talked about anything else of a sexual nature.

The movie itself was way too long, and way too slow. The only thing that it has going for it is that, even though it comes 50 years after the actual Kinsey report, it’s still shocking to see it. It is its implicit commentary on our current time, not our grandparents’ times, that makes it somewhat relevant.
